We are right in the middle of men’s Fall 2012/2013 fashion weeks, but since our winter 2011/2012 is not even over, I’ll tell you a bit about spring 2012 that is comming in stores as we speak.
Menswear doesn’t change much from a season to another, but I can certainly point out few new trends that were seen on many spring runways.
First of all, the double breasted is a must ! From suit blazers to sport jackets, to outerwear, the DB is here to stay as it’s been seen for many seasons already. A fun way to include this trend to spring is by “colour blocking” it with a coloured pant. I really like this royal blue blazer with a cropped plum pant from Trussardi (below). It makes it young and fresh!
Another big trend this season is the colour mustard. Many designers showed this colour as an accent but some even showed total mustard look on the runway. Not sure this will translate very well in the street, but for sure, I like the accent of yellow in an outfit. It can be a belt, a hat, a bag, an umbrella, or even a blazer if you’re more adventurous.
Another trend to hit the runway is the plaid! Usually seen for fall/winter collections, this trend was seen in lighter colour palettes by some of our favorite designers. Designers like Neil Barrett and Costume National showed heavier plaid but chose very light cool wool or cotton to make it more springy.
Of course there are many other interesting trends and colours for this comming spring such as “army green”, “navy/white” or “black and white”, but the ones I just presented above are newer and fresher. So now, if you are a fashion lover, tell me, which trends will you embrace for the hot season to come?
